The Two Towers Summary – The Lord of the Rings

Before starting The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers Summary, let’s discuss the author John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (J. R. R. Tolkien), who was born in 3 January 1892 and died 2 September 1973 (aged 81). J. R. R. Tolkien was an English writer, poet, philologist. The Two Towers high fantasy novel was published in 11 November 1954.

The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers Summary

The book Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers covers the book 3 and book 4 of the series. The main aim of book revolves around Ring Fellowship which was broken. Boromir, a character in the story who was the one to take away the ring from Frodo and the death of this character was a turning point of this story. Another five characters then take away the attention of the readers from which Pippin and Merry were taken to Isengard after being kidnapped by the Orc-soldiers; on the other hand the other three characters Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn were in the state of stalking. However, the orc-soldiers got destroyed by none other than the Riders of Rohan and they were led by the Eomer the Marshal. On the other hand the team of Treebeard, Fangorn, End and many more were met by Hobbits who escaped in the first place.

While on the verge of pursuit, the three characters Aragon, Gimli and Legolas also met Gandalf who was all draped in grey color and was also a returned individual from death in the name of White Rider. The King Théoden who was with Gandalf and he rescued the King from the spells of an enemy. He forces were heading towards the fortress and the Tower of Orthanc had Saruman and Wormtongue, however the two of these were not ready to repent in front of Gandalf and therefore the staff of the Gandalf was removed from the wizards council. Wormtongue in order to seek help out of the tower threw a stone from the window butt unfortunately the stone turned out to be a palantir which is a seeing stone and this stone was given back to Gandalf by Peregrin and yet he also stole it back again, and came across the truth of Sauron. However, at the end of book 3, Gandalf forgave Pippin and Aragorn was given the Palantir.

The start of the Book 4 features the two characters Samwise and Frodo who are already lost and are now looking for a way out of the mystery they have been into. Gollum has taken a new entry and is working as a spy to the hobbits. However, Gollum has proven to be helpful for Frodo and advices him to leave the area through a secret entrance which lies in the Mountains of Shadow. On their way, the team of Frodo comes across Faramir and he warned them about the pass which they were to take on the advice of Gollum that the pass is not as what has been advised by Gollum. However, they finally end up reaching the road and they were able to see the army of Sauron which was already led by the King. Gollum then tried to betray the hobbits by making them move away from the city and they finally came across a monster named as Shelob. However, Sam was brave enough to defeat Gollum and Shelob but Frodo died during the encounter, however Sam planned to carry out the quest all alone and while he was about to cross the Mordor he heard the orcs and got to know that Frodo is drugged and not dead and his body was being carried to the tower by orcs and this brings an end to book 4.
